We’ve got an exciting week coming up here at BCB. For starters we’re continuing our work with media students from Leeds Trinity University. Since we started as Bradford Festival Radio over 30 years ago we’ve worked in partnership with Leeds Trinity University to offer their media students a taste of working in a real life radio station. Today we kicked off that work again and for the next two weeks the team will be delivering hourly news bulletins Monday-Friday10-4pm filled with Bradford news Leeds Trinity students will also be at our studios for the two weeks so be sure to say hi and make them feel welcome.
After breaks for the school holidays, we’re excited to welcome back pupils from Rainbow Academy back to BCB as part of our continued work with the school. They’ll be in our studios recording what they’ve been up to at school recently, learning how to edit and maybe even a bit of interviewing. We’re also continuing our work with the E-Sports students from Shipley College who are looking at music from games, how music influences games and working towards a 30 minute programme as part of BCB Xtra – our 6:30-7pm daily strand for Bradford’s young people.
Finally we’re looking for more BCBers to get involved with our outside broadcasts team – our team of volunteers who go out and about to events in and around Bradford and report live from them. This will be especially important as we build up to 2025 and Bradford’s City of Culture. The first meeting to plan and prepare will be on Wednesday 24th April from 4.45-6pm. If you’re available to join us us please email jonathan.pinfield@bcbradio.co.uk

BCB will be supporting young people from diverse communities and backgrounds in Bradford to create radio. Find our more about our Youth Music project.
As a part of a recent exhibition at the Science and Media Museum, our BCB volunteers were invited to talk about their lives and the various ways BCB has played a part in them.
