Tim Moon Presenter Profile

Tim Moon
Tim first began in radio back in the days when it was driven by steam and a short trousered example of the fee paying school system was asked to appear as part of a BBC Home Service schools broadcast. The young Tim reappeared on the BBC in the Seventies, now as a bearded beer lover, playing the part of Yorkie Bale, retired Shoddy Merchant in a BBC Radio Leeds sit com.

Later in the Seventies he became a radio regular in Bradford with many appearances on the popular Pennine Radio programme Pennine Folk presented by Nigel Schofield (who went on to be Tims best man, and the producer of many fine retrospective albums by the likes of Fairport and Martin Carthy.) Nigel was the man given the task of setting up the radio broadcast for Bradford Festival, wittily called Bradford Festival Radio and Tim was involved too. Since then they cant get rid of him.

Festival Radio became BCB and Tim stuck to a succession of folk and roots programmes and initiated BCBs live cable broadcasts presenting the folk programme and a daily magazine programme which lives on as About Bradford to this day. He also wrote and acted in Lets Talk About Skits!, a scurrilous comedy programme which featured Lucy Robins. The poor girl quickly became Lucy Moon. May that be a warning to us all!

Now Tim presents 'Folk Us' 'Transported' and the popular 'Who's in Bradford?' The Dr Who Review monthly as part of 'About Bradford'. There's even some 'Skits' specials in the pipeline. In the real world Tim earns a living as a musician and composer/lyricist in education, workshops, rural arts projects and TV, does a bit of acting and poetry and pops up on stages of all sizes all over the country (see www.timmoon.co.uk if your really can't contain your interest.) He turned 50 in 2003 and lives with Lucy and his dog Soosh within earshot of his beloved steam trains in Haworth. And he bids you, take care and he loves you all.
