Now check out the blog on http://www.bcbradio.co.uk/musicblog/?cat=245
All tracks played on the programme will be there! But what will you hear?
A scintilating stew of Blues, Rock, Cajun, Zydeco, Country, Jazz, Rock n Roll, Rockabilly, Soul, Salsa, Punk, Gospel and generally raucous twangy stuff. If you want to know where the name of the show comes from - well, I`ll tell you. Crossroads is a song by the Blues singer and ace guitarist Robert Johnson, also made famous by the Uk band Cream amongst others. The actual crossroads are rumoured to be where highway 61 and Highway 49 meet in Mississippi at Clarksdale. It was this crossroads that Robert Johnson was supposed to have sold his soul to the devil in exchange for the ability to play the blues like no other. On a musical trip in 2003, after New Orleans, Nashville and Memphis, I also went down Highway 61 to see these legendary crossroads for myself. I was in a big red, shiny olsmobile (what else would do!). It rained a lot, I picked some cotton (actually I stolee into a field and picked a bag full, the size of a crisp packet) - but I did it and then played the blues harp (for a minute) - but I did that too! I took a photo of the crossroads to prove it and then headed back to Memphis. Is the legend true? Who knows, if you go to the Deep South of America you will think that its possible. Anyway, the trip sort of led to the radio in Bradford and the name "I went to the crossroads" seemed like a good idea. What do you think?
Below is a reasonably up to date list of the things that I play.
