This week at BCB we’re starting out by working with students from Bradford schools involved in the Pupil Voice project – which aims to give a voice to the students of Bradford on issues that are important to them. Previously we’ve made programmes with the group around bullying, sustainability and the environment and for their next show they exploring the issue of racism. Later this week they’ll be back at BCB interviewing Piers Telemacque from Bradford’s Race Equality Network about the work they do addressing racism in the district. The pupils from Rainbow Academy will also be with us as part of their regular Wednesday session with us.

Journalism students from Leeds Trinity University are with us for their second week. Since we started as Bradford Festival Radio over 30 years ago we’ve worked in partnership with Leeds Trinity University to offer their media students a taste of working in a real life radio station. This week the team will be delivering hourly news bulletins Monday-Friday 10-4pm filled with Bradford news Leeds Trinity students will also be at our studios for the two weeks so be sure to say hi and make them feel welcome.

We’re looking for more BCBers to get involved with our outside broadcasts team – our team of volunteers who go out and about to events in and around Bradford and report live from them. This will be especially important as we build up to 2025 and Bradford’s City of Culture. The first meeting to plan and prepare will be on Wednesday 24th April from 4.45-6pm. If you’re available to join us us please email jonathan.pinfield@bcbradio.co.uk

Finally we’re building up to UNIfy festival which is taking place at the University of Bradford this weekend with interviews about the festival. The annual festival, taking place from 25 – 30 April, will include exciting and engaging events, workshops and performances that aim to share and celebrate projects from the University and across the district. The theme for this year’s festival is “What a Difference!”. We’re also continuing our partnership work with the Bradford Museums and Galleries team who do a monthly programme on BCB called Behind the Scenes at the Museum. Their next programme goes out this Sunday 1-2pm so be sure to tune in and find out all the latest news they’ve got to share!
