Last week was Record Store Day again, raising the question: How long can record shops survive? I used to work in a good one (hi Phill, Danny, Ged, Steve, Smarty etc) and I hope it’s a long time, but I’m pessimistic.

This week I was looking online to buy an obscure reggae compilation – Reggae Anthology: The Channel One Story Volume Two, since you ask – and none of the usual suspects had a price I wanted to pay.

So I used http://www.tunechecker.com/ to find the cheapest – and it took me to Tesco. And I bought the CD.

Hardly as cool as popping into a groovy disc shop, but several pounds cheaper…

About Rob

Rob co-founded BCB with Mary Dowson, back when the hills were young and it were all flat caps an chappatis round 'ere. It was known as Bradford Festival Radio then, and thanks to the generosity of Dusty Rhodes we got started. Now he takes photos, puts little silver discs in drawers, mumbles into microphones, and walks on the hills. Keep On Blowin..
