This week’s short story..

I was on the toilet when the thought flashed into my mind and no amount of wiping could clear it. No – I sat there thinking about why it all started in the first place. This train of thought began to trail off when the doorbell rang. When the door opened too wide for average girth. It was like flinging a sausage up O’Connell Street, as they say.
Anyway, it there is one certainty in life, it’s this:
step 1) Turn on the oven.
step 2) Make sure the flame is on full blast.
step 3) Leave and go to the shop.
step 4) Buy 58 pure 100% wool jumpers.
step 5) Return home and put them all on over your current clothing.
step 6) Run up and down the stairs until exhausted.
step 7) Return to the kitchen with a duvet, wrap yourself tightly in it and sit next to the oven.

These instructions were clearly ignored. That’s the reason why I was attacked by wild dogs. Jesus, did those dogs know how to throw a party. In the mornings, their heads felt like CRAP.
Everyone slept quite well that night anyway, but if it was me, I would have never bothered beginning it all in the first place.

About Rob

Rob co-founded BCB with Mary Dowson, back when the hills were young and it were all flat caps an chappatis round 'ere. It was known as Bradford Festival Radio then, and thanks to the generosity of Dusty Rhodes we got started. Now he takes photos, puts little silver discs in drawers, mumbles into microphones, and walks on the hills. Keep On Blowin..
