Too Much Too Young – playlist for Wednesday 21st October 2009

This wednesday’s show was really fun to make – with an especially good backrow banter in my opinion. We’ll be back next wednesday at 5.30pm as always. But for now here’s what we played this week…

The Drums – Lets Go Surfing
A tune-packed show kicked off with much-hyped and surprisingly googleable New Yorkers The Drums with probably the best surf-themed song since Melt Banana’s cover of Surfing USA or even Weezer’s Surf Wax America.

Vetiver – The Swimming Song
The first of two covers in Wednesday’s show was Vetiver’s charming version of the Loudon Wainwright classic. Taken from the ‘A Thing of the Past’ covers album.

Pat Dowson Sings the News – This week it was about Noel Edmonds and his one-man protest of driving a black cab around the Bristol bus lanes

Florence and the Machine – You got the Love (XX Remix)
The inventive (and superior) remix of Flo’s new single is the second of the covers – this time of Candi Staton – and like everything the XX are touching right now it’s pretty special.

KC’s backrow Banter
This week KC enjoyed Peter Strickland’s Berlin festival award-winning thriller Katalin Varga (8/10) but was less enamoured with Blue (2/10) the bollywood film featuring a cameo from Kylie.

Devendra Banhart – Baby
Taken from his folky yet ultra-smooth new record ‘What Will We Be’, Baby is a perfect slice of summer sunshine to cling to as the winter sets in.
