Race Equality Week 2022


Race Equality Week runs from 7th Feb to 13th Feb and, for the week, Bradford’s Race Equality Network are hosting a series of talks and actions from local Bradfordians on the history of their community in this city and beyond. We are thrilled to be able to broadcast these talks throughout the week. You can hear all the talks as and when they are broadcast here:

Juice Vamosi – An overview of the history of Roma culture and heritage.

Harkishan Mistry – ‘From India to Kenya to UK’ shares his family history and the significant of his family’s contributions to Bradford.

Danny Carter – ‘From Jos to Bradford’ – Nigerian History focusing on prehistoric kingdoms and colonial period, followed by information on the Nigerian community in Bradford today.

Aamnah Rahman – ‘A Voyage from Kashmir’ -a talk about family history and migration from Azad Kashmir, highlighting the positive role models from this region in Bradford today.

Kunafa Tea – A talk by the staff of a local Syrian cafe and restaurant in Bradford which they set up last year after arriving to Bradford as refugees.
