Monday 23rd September

Junior Men Individual Time Trial

Reuben Thompson – NZ

First year riding in Europe. Finished 29th.

Joshua Amos  Gudnitz – DEN

Finished 21st.

Oscar Nillsen-Julien – GBR

Finished 9th.

Leo Hayter – GBR

Top British Rider. Finished 8th.

Tuesday 24th September

A really wet day. Heavy stormy showers all day. The riders had to contend with flooded roads.

Men’s U23 Individual Time Trial

Johan Price-Pejtersen – DEN

Johan had a spectacular crash in a huge puddle on the course. The video clip has been replayed time and time again on TV. As a result, he was the slowest on the course finishing 59th.

Morten Hulgaard – DEN

Started first, spent a long time on the podium, and finished 6th.

Charlie Quaterman – GBR

Best of the British riders. Finished 14th.

Liam Magennis – AUS

Finished 29th.

Women’s Elite Individual Time Trial

Because of the weather conditions the start of the race was delayed by almost an hour.

Chloe Dygert – USA

World Champion!

Alice Barnes – GBR

Top British rider in 16th position.

Hayley Simmonds – GBR

Finished 26th.

Anna Turvey – IRL

From Sunderland, Anna rides for Ireland. Finished 34th.

 

Wednesday 25th September

Elite Men’s Individual Time Trial

Rohan Dennis – AUS

The reigning world champion took the title for a second year running despite not having raced since July when he walked off the Tour De France in the middle of stage 12. There has been much speculation about his health, and the relationship with his current team.

He was asked how it felt to have his family present to witness his win.

Alex Dowsett – GBR

In a very strong field, Alex finished 5th.

John Archibald – GBR

After winning Bronze earlier in the week in the Mixed Team time Trial, John was a last minute replacement for Geraint Thomas. He put in a good ride early on and spent a long time in the leaders hot seat eventually finishing 14th overall.

Eddie Dunbar – IRL

Eddie is well known locally as he performed well in the Tour De Yorkshire earlier in the year. Finished 26th.

Thursday 26th September

Junior Men’s Road Race

Quinn Simmons – USA

World Champion!

Magnus Sheffield – USA

Won 3rd place in four man sprint to the line.

Alfie George – GBR

Highest finishing British rider in 7th place. Has strong connections to the area.

Leo Hayter – GBR

With 8th place in the time trial earlier in the week, Leo finished 15th.

Sam Watson – GBR

Local Leeds lad, finished 28th.

Joshua Amos Gunditz – DEN

Spoke to Joshua earlier in the week – see above. Finished 47th.

Friday 27th September

Junior Women’s Road Race

Megan Jastrab – USA

World Champion!

Elynor Backstedt – GBR

Finished 5th today, after getting a bronze in the individual time trial earlier in the week. The GB team also got a podium place in the nations cup.

Men’s U23 Road Race

Tom Pidcock – GBR

Elevated to 3rd place after the winner was disqualified for drafting behind the team car earlier in the race. Hugely disappointed not to win.

Fred Wright – GBR

Finished 28th.

Stuart Balfour – GBR

Finished 39th. Stuart is supported to ride on the continent by the Dave Rayner fund which was set up in memory of the Shipley rider.

Mathew Walls – GBR

Finished 71st.

Saturday 28th September

Elite Women’s Road Race

Lizzy Diegnan – GBR

Despite a brave attempt and going with the breakaway, Lizzie finished 31st.

Sunday 29th September

Elite Men’s Road Race

Mads Pederson – DEN

World Champion!
